Exploring Habitats (KS2)
This programme enables children to explore and compare first hand different habitats that are found within Parkanaur Forest. Children will have the opportunity to visit two contrasting habitats and complete a variety of fieldwork tasks such as collecting and identifying the creatures that live in the habitat, pond dipping, bark rubbings and creating a woodland palette. Relationships between the animals and plants that live in the habitats will also be discussed. The programme ends with a craft consolidation activity where the children are able to make a hanging forest mobile.
Energy & Electricity (KS2)
An action packed programme with many different activities encouraging children to work with one another to complete various tasks. Children are introduced to energy and its different forms with the aid of an interactive PowerPoint presentation. Electricity is then explored with the children working together to build various circuits.
The main part of the session involves the children using the knowledge they have gained about circuits to make a working steady hand game.
Caring For Our Birds (KS2)
The children are introduced to and given the opportunity to learn about common birds with the aid of bird specimens. Working in teams and with using binoculars, children visit different locations in the forest to identify and record the birds they see. There is also the opportunity to make bird feeders and for children to make a hanging bird table.

Bugs & Beasties (KS2)
Parkanaur Forest provides the perfect location for children to investigate and explore a wide variety of minibeasts. Children will be introduced to various minibeasts with the aid of an interactive PowerPoint presentation, puppets and a practical minibeast quiz. In groups, the children participate in a minibeast safari in the forest and are provided with bug boxes and microscopes to get a closer look at these tiny but extremely important creatures. The day concludes with a minibeast themed craft activity. Structured play also forms part of the day for the foundation age groups.

Prejudice, Stereotyping & Discrimination (KS2)
Stereotyping, Prejudice and Discrimination is an extremely thought provoking programme that helps children understand the difference between the three words in question and also the way in which they can be linked together. The programme begins with a selection of fun ice breaker activities to make the children feel comfortable with each other. An Eye colour activity with the aid of a parachute is then used to initially demonstrate the word discrimination. Stereotyping, Prejudice and Discrimination are then examined in great detail with a stimulating PowerPoint presentation. Other activities include a “Not up my Street” rank ordering exercise and a PSD craft wheel activity.
Building Bridges (KS2)
An action packed programme with many different activities encouraging children to work with one another to complete various tasks. Activities include animal card game, Team ordering activities, Alternative Quiz, Human Bingo and K’Nex Bridge Building.
The main part of the session involves the children working in a team to create a bridge using the K’Nex system. Bridges are then tested to see which groups is the strongest.
Celebrating Difference (KS2)
This programme aims to bring children together from different backgrounds to give them the opportunity to explore the traditions and culture of their partner school. Children are able to explore in ‘hands-on’ detail the symbols, flags and celebrations associated with both traditions in our society. Activities include a “cultural cards” symbol sorting group activity, a mystery cultural artefact guessing activity and a “Different pieces, All together” craft activity.
